This bug is rather old, from 2008.
Your is likely the same as 121095 (and other similar bugs), it has two effects:
* all words are misspelled even if they are ok
* no words are misspelled even if they are wrong

Follow the advice in bug 121205 comment 1 and bug 121095 comment 5

Locate the user profile, remove the folders \extensions and \uno_packages, then
make sure there is installed only one dictionary extension per language

I will close this bug, as it is from 2008.
In case the advice in bug 121205 comment 1 and bug 121095 comment 5 do not work
for you, please add your comments there, so that the bug is tracked in one
place

Closing this bug from 2008.
Whatever the root problem was, it is not the same as the one we are
experiencing now in OpenOffice 3.4

Updated from below - did the file name change as recommended - also noticed it
seems to work (but always have to reset) under tools/language - have to keep
choosing English USA in selection, paragraph, text (the options do not get
check marked as if they are (checked) programmed to work)
If I do not do this each time - spellcheck won't work

I have read the other similar bug reports - but language is above my knowledge
grade.

My basic system info:
OpenOffice 3.4.1
Windows 7 Home Premium
64-bit operating system
Dell Computer (use it for high def video editing, high resolution photos,
writing documents).

However - while using "this reporting form" right now to report the bug about
spellcheck issues - the red underline and spellcheck are now working (this
reporting form).

Doesn't work (reliably) on OpenDocument Text.

It says it did spellcheck but many words are misspelled (did tests) - and the
red underlining also doesn't work every time (sometimes on old documents).

Been a problem for about a month or two.

***Please - in simple language - tell me how to fix.
Or send download.

I am not a techie - just news reporter, writer, video editor.

Or call me - 906-401-0109>

I love OpenOffice - and prefer it to Windows documents for many reasons.
